Hello, this is Chiai Nagano.
I met Damon from Tsunami Sounds, who was visiting Japan, in Shibuya (Tokyo).
Damon liked the tracks on my EP Gare de M, which I released under the name Chiais this winter, and featured me on his playlist, which led to us having a bit of a conversation. He even offered me an invitation to be on AKARI VOL.3 (a chill compilation EP), which was released at the end of last month.
When I found out he was coming to Japan, I wanted to meet him, and then I received a DM.
D: “How about coffee sometime soon if our schedules allow?”
Of course I replied.
C: "How about after this?"
…like this lol
I was just working at home and didn't have any plans, and the photo he gave me just before was of a place I knew (the top of the stairs at 109), so we met there 2 hours later at 6pm.
I'm glad we were able to meet safely!

The weekend nights in Shibuya are so crowded that they can be likened to festivals, so I walked to the next station, Shinsen, and went to an izakaya that serves local Miyazaki cuisine.
On the way there, I was given the CD version of AKARI VOL.3, which is shown in the photo.
...So of course, when I arrived at the restaurant, I took a commemorative photo first lol
It was my first CD release, and I never expected to receive it directly from the artist himself, so I was very happy.
(Thanks, Damon!)

AKARI VOL.Ⅲ and business cards.
(In English, Japanese Meishi are called business cards…🤔)

After that, we talked about California (USA) where he lives, and about each other's musical roots, and the four hours flew by.
By the way, the topic that came up at that time was today's blog.
C: "I want to do something interesting in addition to the web content I have now."
D: "That's good!!"
C: "(I want to deepen my understanding of English) I'm thinking about blogging, but is there anything you're interested in?"
When I asked him, he said,
"Yes, there is!" lol
Apparently, his label is mainly about art and sound, so he is interested in these two things, and when he looks into it from America, he finds that Japan is a fantasy and there are a lot of people who are interested, but he doesn't know what it's really like. He wants to know where he can experience art and sound specifically in Shibuya.
So let's try that theme!
So I think I'll write about this theme next time.
See you! 👋

On the way back to the hotel.
Damon's girlfriend, Catherine, took this photo for us without us noticing. Nice!✨
